Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) Online Test – Disclaimer

Our apologies to the educators, medical professionals and families who utilize the free, non-commercial, online MMSE produced by our organization. A private, for-profit company called Psychological Assessment Resources (PAR) Inc. has demanded we remove the tool.

The Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE), also known as the Folstein Test, is a fast and simple test to quantify cognitive function and loss as occurs in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. It has been available to the public for free for almost 50 years. If you would like to regain access to our free, online MMSE, please email PAR Inc’s Permissions Director, Vicki McFadden at [email protected] and request that we be given permission to re-publish the tool.

Fortunately, the MMSE is also available in paper format from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website. Download it here. Another version is also available from the Australian government. Download it here. For more information about the test, including a step-by-step guide to administering it at home, click here.
