Get an attorney!
You should start by calling an attorney, they should know the laws and rules for each state.
power of attorney
My suggestion would be to contact an ELder Law Attorney. IF you are trying to obtain power of attorney, you need support and verification of doctors to the status of the person who lives out of state. In some states if the individual is beyond making proper decicions that concern health, financial and well being decisions for themselves, an attorney may inform you that you may need to go before a judge in the jurisdiction (where individual Resides), to legally presenta a case to obtain power of attorney. Speak to an an accountant in that state that deal with estate planning and elder care.
Can I obtain power of attorney if I am in another state?
I am in another state as my loved one and was wondering if this will make obtaining power of attorney more difficult (or impossible)? Is there a resource that shows information for each state? Thanks in advance.
