Dementia in HIV/AIDS

Dementia in HIV infection varies with the stage of the illness, whether or not it is being treated, and even the age of the person who is infected. Some symptoms that may occur with early infection may reverse with treatment; but any destruction of brain tissue (encephalopathy) is irreversible.
